Covenant Entrepreneurship Workshop
Saturday 1st February 2014
In Nigeria we put together our first entrepreneurship event in conjunction with Covenant University, Covenant University is a Private Christian University and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. We brought together 3 successful entrepreneurs to discuss questions that aspiring entrepreneurs find difficult to overcome. The notion of show me how it’s done because you have done it is important. We were privileged to have the likes of Raphael Afeador who is a serial-entrepreneur and a co-founder of Jumia. Jumia, an online retailer now selling to over 500,000 customers monthly, it was launched with seed funding from Rocket Internet and have since raised over $75 million. We also had Iroghama Ogbeifun attend, Ms Ogbeifun is the winner of the first season MTN’s the Next Titan, an entrepreneurial reality show that was watched across sub-saharan Africa. We also gave the opportunity to selected attendees to pitch their business idea and receive feedback from the audience, Mr Alieu Fofanah (CEO & Founder of GoGetters) and Michael Ugwu who was the founding CEO of iROKING Ltd (part of the iROKO Partners family), and is now founder of freemedigital.com and a Spark.ng nominated investor. This gave attendees a dragons den style environment to boost confidence and listen to constructive feedback.
We also had the gracious Mr Tomi Davies present to our audience about start-ups and angels, it was very informative about how to raise investment from individuals and venture capital funds. Tomi Davies is a convener of the Lagos Angel Network (LAN), an angel, business mentor and a member of Governor Fashola of Lagos State Nigeria’s Innovation Advisory Council.
The event was sponsored by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon of Lagos State West.

GIMPA Entrepreneurship Workshop
Saturday 21st December 2013
We put together our first entrepreneurship event in conjunction with GIMPA University in Ghana, we gathered 3 bright, young successful entrepreneurs to answer questions that mostly stop the growth of entrepreneurship in Ghana. We were pleased to have had the likes of Anita Erskine who is known for her many successful shows on TV such as ‘The making of a mogul” to discuss challenges facing entrepreneurs within Ghana. We gave the opportunity to a start-up company called Asime Delivery (an online distribution company) to pitch to investors during the event. We had Acumen Fund who look into the social impact of healthcare and agriculture and Erik Osikwan an Angel Investor to sit as Judges for the pitching session. This gave the entrepreneurs and the audience a more specialised look as to what Investors look for within Start-ups.
The Hon.Fifi Kwetey, The minister of state and head of Finance and Allied Institutions graced our event and promoted what the Govt are doing to support Entrepreneurship. The Ghanaian times covered this in their article about the event. The Ghanaian govt are putting together a model worth GHC10millon of patient capital to foster the growth of entrepreneurship in Ghana. The event attracted a lot of media attention which saw us go on the breakfast show of Joy TV before our event, the host asked us key questions surrounding entrepreneurship. Our event was covered by GTV and we was featured in the daily graphic and the Ghanaian times.
